Kia Ora Readers,

On Friday the class had to do a performance and use the mask that we made.
I wasn't there to perform but I was there on some of the other days to make half of my mask.
Here is the mask I was meant to finish and it is called Freddy from Five Nights at Freddys.

But it was meant to be made out of metal not this type of material.

I will now show some of the pictures of my group dancing which I wasn't there for.

Thank you for reading my blog have a nice day.

2021-2022 (New Students)

 Kia Ora Readers,

The first day I came to this school I was quite nervous until I met my friends, they were nice enough to invite me to their friend group. I met most of my friends in PE and now that I got to know them we came really close.

This year has been pretty fun my favourite classes and experients are when I got to make food with my group and I. I also loved drama because the whole class got to do some fun activites and performances with their groups.

Most people love the last week of school cause they say that they have fun trips, but sometimes it could get cancelled cause of viruses or others. If they don't get cancelled the trips continues and only year 7, 8 and 9 get to go on the trips. (Well thats what the students here say but I'm not 100% about it)

I am encouraging students from different schools that are coming to Hornby High School to participate in  the activites that the teachers have planned for them. When you come students from Hornby High will welcome you or not but they most likely will.

Home - Hornby High School

I really hope you like this school and this is the end of my blog, have a wonderful day.

Kia Ora Readers,

Today we are going to be doing a blog about taste testing and tomorrow we are going to taste test it while blindfolded.

Method:

1. Get safety glasses and make a blindfold.
2. Set up your chart and makes sure that the person you are working with knows where to record your responses.
3.Using an ice-cream stick and you will dip it into the Smaple. Once the smaple is on the stick you will taste it and tell your partner your respnse.
4. There will be 2 Answers.
5. At taste test one you need to hold your nose.
Answer 1. Is sweet, sour, salty, bitter. Record it

Answer 2. What do you think it is. Record it

6. Repeat this for the next samples but you will only need to use your icecream stick taster for example 1-4

Drama

 Kia Ora Readers,

In this photo Jhonas, Shanaya, Stella, Mikhanya, Casey and me are doing a short performance, and what we are doing is that I am walking up to these people who are very rich and I am gonna ask them what they want off the menu. So basically this is a resturant.

In this photo we are making a big taniwha by making some parts of it with our bodys. There is somemore parts of the body but i'll just show this part of the body first.

In this photo we were doing a scene from the book maui and the fish which turned into the north islands, but in this scene maui is hiding at the bottom of the waka and his brothers are at the top rowing the boat.

1. I think our grouo worked quite well with the levels.

2.If I did this again I would think our group could work on keeping focus.

3.We did well with the levels because we had some stamding some sitting and some laying on the floor.

4. After we understood where we had to go for our next tableaw transitions it was much easier but sometimes we did have a bump into each.

SCIENCE

 Kia Ora Readers,

Today we are learning how to use/learn about pH.

Here is some steps.

1. Take a test tube rack with 1 boiling tube at each end of the rack and 4 test tubes.

2. Half Fill the boiling tube at the one end will Sodium hydroxide.

3. Half Fill the boiling tube at the other end with Hydrochloric acid.

4. Fill each test tube with 5 drops of Universal indicator.

5.  Using the pipettes you will add drops of the acid or alkaline to the test tube to make colours of RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, VIOLET.

6. DO NOT MIS UP THE PIPETTES.

Here is a photo of the results.

Thats the end of the blog have a nice day and thank your for giving your time to look at my blog.

Math (Multiplication and Subtraction)

 Kia Ora Readers/People,

Since lockdown has started we have been well some of us have been doing some school work while the schools and works well some works are in lockdown.

So lately I have been doing some school work but mostly my math and we are doing mulitiplacation and subtraction. Here is an example of Addition and Subtraction (DLO)

Like 219 then you add up the digits at the end of the number and 9+2=11 so then you put a the

     +382

last digit of the 11 and put it on top of the 1 and 8 then you add those digits and include the 1.

So it's 8+1+1=10 so then you put the 1 on top of the two front digits and add them up and again include the 1, 2+3+1=6 then there you go your answer to the question, it is 601 that’s the answer.

So that was an Example of what a Addition Column is now i will show you an example of what a Subtraction Column is.

So the Subtraction Column is just like the Addition Column but you have to subtract the number.

Here is an example of it. So we are going to do the same thing as the Addition Column but subtract the number. 89 so you may know the answer to this but by using subtraction column it

                                 -57

might make math easier for you. So first off like the addition one you start off at the back and right here it says 9-7 so you subtract those two numbers and you’ll get your answer for 9-7 and it equals 2 now to the next row of digits 8-5= and you do the same as the first digits. You subtract the numbers and you’ll get your answer which is 3 then add the numbers together (the 3 and 2 but the 3 at the front and the 2 next to it) then there you go that's the answer to the question aka 32 here's my DLO.

Thank you for reading/looking at my blog and have wonderful day.

Pepper (Science)

Kia Ora people,

So today we are learning about pepper and we are gonna research about pepper.

A small hot-tasting pod of a variety of capsicum, used in sauces, relishes, and spice powders. There are various forms with pods of differing size, colour, and strength of flavour.

World's Hottest Chilli Pepper Carolina Reaper May Have An Indian Connection Carolina Reaper

Here is a photo of peppers and the hottest pepper in the world is a Carolina Reaper but i think that is wrong because it said Dragons breath pepper is hotter than Carolina Reaper.

Also apparently if you eat a pepper and rub your eye you might go blind.

Top 6 hottest pepper:

  • Carolina Reaper (From South Carolina)
  • Trinidad Moruga (From Trinidad and Trobago)
  • 7 Pot Douglah (From Trinidad)
  • 7 Pot Primo (From Louisiana)
  • Trinidad Scorpion (From Trinidad and Trobago)
  • Naga Viper (From England)
  • Ghost Pepper (From Northeast India)

To see which is the best to cool down the hot chillie taste in your mouth when eating chilli. I think that by using milk sour cram and other dairy products I will be able to remove the hot chilli taste from my mouth.

Equipment:

1. Milk

2. Water

3. Coca Cola

4. Tasting cup

5. Chilli

Summary and Resaults:

Milk had a small effect on the chilli. After 3 minutes it took the whole taste away.

Coke had a small effect on the chilli. Coke worked well after 3 minutes and removed the taste totally.

Water did not remove the chilli taste at all. After 3 minutes it removed the taste slightly.

MIlk would be the most effective drink to use with spicy, chilli foods.

 Conclusion

And milk could be a solution when eating spicy foods - literally. That's because milks helps your mouth handle capsaicin, and oily chemical compound in chilli peppers. Capsaicin blinds to a receptor in the tongue and creates a burning sensation. ...Casein protein found in milk can also bind to the capsaicin and wash it away.

STEAM CHALLENGE

KIA ORA! People today in our wananga class we are going to be blogging about what we are doing for steam. But there are different types of steam that people pick. I picked Transportation and we are talking about what will happen in 2050. Right now we are focused on “What if there is no gas in 2050”.

So what me and my group have been doing is some planning on what we are going to make the hover taxi out of, oh and we are replacing the gas with water that makes the car work.

Here is what we might want to make the hover taxi look like.
